Easter Seal's Drop Zone raises $239K

Shawna & girlfriends

Last week, over 106 Superheroes rappelled 200 feet to benefit Easter Seal’s Drop Zone raising $239,000 for the charity….including myself. The funds raised though this unique, one of a kind event will help support Easter Seals programs and services throughout British Columbia.

One hundred & six fearless superheroes from across the Lower Mainland and even a few as far as Vernon and Salmon Arm committed to raising a minimum $1000 each to earn the exclusive right to rappel 200 feet down a downtown office building at the corner of West Hastings and Burrard Street. Not going to lie…it was quite terrifying for equally awesome and all for a great cause. I’d highly recommend for anyone that’s looking for a little adrenaline kick to participate next year.

Hanging on for dear life while I receive some final words of wisdom from the great Cliff Hanger’s staff

This year’s top individual fundraising superhero was Alison Bowen who raised over $4760.00 in donations, while the top fundraising team was “The Crazy Barbers” who raised $2985 in donations. Special mention goes to Pan American Silver Corporation for their corporate donation of $15,000 towards Easter Seals programs and services. Best individual costume went to Frank Davalos who dressed as ‘The Hulk’, and best team costume went to ‘The Crazy Barbers’ who dressed as AVATAR.

Easter Seals also known as The British Columbia Lions Society for Children with Disabilities has been a registered charitable organization since 1952.  The Society assists children with all types of special needs through programs and services, such as their Easter Seals Houses and Easter Seals Camps.
