Burrows re-signs with Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks announced today that they have reached a deal with forward Alexandre Burrows that will keep him with the team until 2018.
Amidst all the talk about an impending lockout and the prospects of Shane Doan coming to Vancouver, the Canucks announced that they have agreed to a 4 year deal with Burrows that will pay him 18 million dollars in total.
The new contract represents a hefty raise over Burrows previous cap hit, up to 4.5 million a year, 2 million more than his previous 2.5 million dollar contract.
The deal appears to be good value for both the Canucks and Burrows; Vancouver gets about market value for what Burrows contributes and Burrows gets a great contract that will take him through his prime years until he’s 35.
Burrows’ new contract also includes a No Trade Clause, something that shouldn’t concern fans too much because of what Burrows means to the Canucks and the city.
So what do you think of the contract? Happy Burrows’ is staying? or did the Canucks pay too much?
