There’s a new wine in town. Last Friday, Black Sage Vineyard was revealed in a surprise launch event at the Shangri-La Hotel, which features a 2010 Cabernet Saubignon, 2010 Cabernet Franc, 2010 Merlot and 2007 Pipe (Port Style). Avid vino drinkers may already recognize the Black Sage Vineyard brand as a sub-label of renowned Sumac Ridge Estate Winery but now, it has taken an independent stand on its own.

So why the new label? Consumer research conducted by the winemakers revealed that people always remembered Black Sage Wines after trying them and the complexity of the Sumac Ridge Estate Winery portfolio always let them to believe that it was a lesser wine. Winemakers believed that it was one of the best wines out there and to rid the brand of this confusion, they thought it was time for Black Sage Wine to make a stand on its own.

So, why not whites? Winemakers cleverly believe that any varietals or blends that are not suited to the vineyard location would not be produced. To that end, vino drinks can be assured that Black Sage Vineyards only produces wines that are ideally suited to the exceptional growing area.

Welcome and congrats Black Sage Vineyards — cheers!
