Top 5 Summer Sneakers 2012
It seems prime time to announce this list of our favourite sneakers for 2012. With a little help from Vancouver’s premier sneaker boutique Livestock we threw this compilation together including some recommendations for your feet while the sun is still shining. A few staple footwear options were encompassed with some progressive choices as well, so check out the list starting at No. 1
1 – Reigning Champ x Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star ($90)
Right now this sneaker can’t be beat. Hailing from Vancouver, Reigning Champ didn’t waste any time establishing itself as the ultimate in effortless casual-wear. Their fleece game is not to be doubted, and they even feature a heavy terry cotton upper construction with this shoe. Combined with the classic low top Chuck Taylor, this is our first pick. Available in a navy colorway also.
2 – New Balance U420 ($90)
In recent years New Balance has managed to shed its strictly athletic reputation, even experiencing significant popularity with limited edition releases most memorably the 575 “Pigeon”. The U420 has a slimmer profile, narrow toebox and has a cool retro feel to it. This sneaker promises to be comfortable also, as with all New Balance kicks.
3 – Nike Tier Zero Lunar Midtop ($180)
Nike has been offering the Lunar sole with many of their recently released shoes, and for good reason. Lunarlon cushioning represents the utmost in modern lightweight cushioning technology. This choice is more of a functional shoe equally ideal for hiking across downtown or exploring Grouse.
4 – Vans Woessner ($80)
We all know and love the Vans Era and Authentic, but the Californian brand also offers the Woessner as part of its catalog. A simple low top shoe, what’s not to like?
5 – Adidas x CLOT Superstar 80 ($160)
Hong Kong-based street fashion label CLOT teamed up with Adidas on this one; a classic silhouette with some contemporary detailing. The mesh construction is definitely of note, making this shoe highly breathable. Contrasting blues and an off-white midsole are featured for this pair, which has been released in extremely limited numbers.
Honorable Mention – Nike Air Woven ($180)
Not your average sneaker. Inspired by UEFA Euro 2012, the Air Woven was released in different colorways prior to this Solar Red edition. As the name implies, the profile is constructed by meshed fabrics, rendering a highly ergonomic shoe. Another progressive choice from Nike, you may be surprised how good these look on your feet.
