PNE Free Admission Day August 20, 2012

By Vancity Buzz Staff | 2 years ago | Speak Up

On August 18, 2012 the PNE will once again open its doors. Although the fair is losing some of its lustre lately (due to the small size, lack of rides and perceived high admission prices), it’s still a Vancouver summer tradition. Many are looking forward to FREE admission day. This year FREE PNE DAY takes place on August 20th. Free admission is valid only from 9am-noon.

The Free Day program comes in addition to the PNE’s second year of free admission into the Fair for children 13 and under when accompanied by an adult.

Event:                                     Free Day at The PNE
Date(s):                                  August 20, 2012
Time:                                      9am to 12pm
Location:                               PNE grounds at Hastings Park, Vancouver

The PNE used to have the Saturday the first day of opening as a free day between 9 am to 12 noon. This gave families a chance to go to the PNE together, that otherwise could not afford to go. Now that free day has been moved to Monay August 20th’ a work day for most that can’t make it together now as a family. Why ? Also I think at $20 or $15 at 7Eleven the PNE is pricing itself out for most families.

The PNE put free admission day on a Monday  on purpose. It was a good deal & lot’s of people took advantage of it. Now that it is on a Monday a lot of parents will be working!
    This isn’t an accident.
I am sorry for those on fixed budgets who will miss out this year.

Mondays great, I always work weekends and I’m sure it won’t be crazy busy, ya!

  • VcrRocker

How about the good old days when admission was free after 10pm, then $5 after 10pm, then nothing. It’s a sign of the soaring costs that the PNE and most businesses are seeing these days. And you, the lucky consumer, gets to pick up the tab. Got (amerikan) milk?

  • Protejah

Having admission fees while charging for rides, etc. shows a flawed business model.

Disneyland is a success story so should model the PNE after that. Focus on kids fantasies and family

  • Coco

morons and crying babies – get a life!
if u r working – u should afford to pay admission!
free admission is for those WHO DO NOT HAVE JOBS AND SO R IN WORSE POSITION THAN U WHEN IT COMES TO having MONEY LEFt OVER FOR ENTERTAINMENT.

  • Destineybarton

    Is it for rides too?

  • Opinionated_sonner

     Nope, only gate admission.
