Khatsalano Kits Festival

Khatsahlano! Music & Arts Festival is back for its second consecutive year and is ready to take over the streets between Burrard and MacDonald yet again. On July 21st from 12:00pm – 8:00pm, this free block party will have the streets flooded with talented musicians, delicious food tastings, and endless entertainment ranging from comedic performances to some of the most talented artists in Vancouver.

Significantly increasing the music talent for this year’s festival, Khatsahlano! Music & Arts Festival will feature an explosion of some of the hottest bands in the Vancouver music scene. With many artists having deep roots performing in this city, this festival presents a rare opportunity to rock out to bands that have shaped Vancouver’s music scene. “By walking from one end of the festival to another, you will be entertained by an array of sounds, all unique though complimentary of each other,” says Russ Davies, festival curator. “Our vision of having an all-encompassing, free street party with high caliber music has been achieved, and we’re thrilled that it’s in the vibrant area of West 4th Avenue”.

Whether you’re a foodie who attends events to taste the latest in festival grub, or an enthused festival-goer who struggles to walk a couple blocks without a rumbling tummy, the food options will be endless and tasty at Khatsahlano! this year. With West 4th already being known as a restaurant goldmine, you will not be hard pressed to find a spot to eat, regardless of your taste. Some of the restaurants are even doing a curbside menu fare that is cheap, delicious, award winning and unique to Khatsahlano! In addition to these restaurant options, a Food Truck Circus will offer the chance to sample a mix of the best in Vancouver’s street food movement.

Focusing on the Arts component of Khatsahlano! Music & Arts Festival, festival producers have expanded the entertainment element this year to include a wide variety of emerging artisans and performers enlisted from Vancouver’s youth cultural scene – such as Act Now!, Vancouver Youth Theatre, and ArtQuake. The festival will be splashed with the colour, engagement and sound through lively stages of musical interludes, thoughtful spoken word pieces, performance art vignettes, artisan displays, comedy troops, even reggae street yoga.

The Merchants of West 4th and the West 4th BIA could not be more excited to be putting this event on to bring the community together and celebrate the authenticity and character that West 4th Avenue exudes. Be sure to head to West 4th on July 21st to be part of Khatsahlano! Music & Arts Festival.
