The 2200 Kingsway site, bordered by Gladstone and 30th avenue has received a proposal for three, 14 floor towers reaching a maximum height of 45M. The project is one of two “large” sites identified in the Norquay Village plan and will mark the gateway to the Norquay Village neighbourhood.

The developer for this project is Westbank and the architect firm is Henriquez & Partners (masterminds behinds the Woodward’s building). When built this will be a welcome addition to Kingsway as it continues to change.

gotta admit…that stretch of kingsway from knight to nanaimo-ish is gonna pretty nice in 10 years when all the condo developments are all built. It’s certainly revives that stretch of area considering how old and worn out it got since I lived in that area when I was a kid.

The idea back in 1989 was to add 165,000 more people to Vancouver to increase urban density and undo some of the damage of the flight to the suburbs. We increased it a lot more than that, and for some reason Gregor and his followers want to add more and more people to Vancouver. Why? Do we need more crowded roads, and overflowing buses? The average city taxpayer ends up paying for more services that will be needed in order to service more people. The population increase WAS beneficial for our way of life, but now has become damaging. I lived in Toronto, and moved back here because it had become like an overburdened urban hell by 1989. We do not need more density!
