Introducing the Caesar Mixing Officer, Clint Pattemore
A few weeks ago, a few lucky Vancouverites got invited to a Mott’s Clamato Caesar party hosted by non other than the Caesar Mixing Officer (CMO) and Brand Ambassador, Clinton Pattemore. The fantastic CMO demonstrated several different ways to make a caesar, one which was an instant hit with the crowd. A pineapple basil caesar, need we really say more?
Clint has been CMO since January 1, 2012, and has since travelled the country to enlighten the nation on this beloved beverage. After his demos, Clint gets to drink the caesars and socialize. Does he have the best job in the world? We try and find out.
How did you get this job?
After college I got into the service industry. I fell in love with the idea of getting paid to make people happy. I moved from Kingston (Ontario) to Toronto, and fell in love with mixology. I taught bartending in Toronto for three years. My boss at the bartending school would do what I do now at about six to eight events a year. Then Mott’s decided they wanted to take a different approach, and go with what more liquor companies are doing and that’s having a Brand Ambassador. They did a nation wide search, and they had over a hundred people apply for the job.
What did the search entail?Â
I had to first create a video as to why I should become the Ambassador. Then I had four interviews. They all got progressively easier, ironically enough. And I haven’t looked back, I love it.
What’s the best thing about your job?
 The Caesars.
What’s the second best thing about you job?
The people. I like meeting new people. That’s what I love about bartending, the randomness of the industry. I like teaching, I like the educational aspect of it.
Would you say you have the best job in the world?
At least in the country.
If you could drink any other drink, what would it be?Â
Gin & Tonic. Gin & Caesar? (he laughs)
Any last words on Caesars?
It’s Canada’s drink. People like it differently. Once they find the way they like it, they stick with it. So find a Caesar that works for you.
If you ever get a chance to meet the CMO Clint, make sure you say hi to him. Then ask him for that pineapple basil Caesar. Thank me later.
