Beached Humpback Whale at White Rock Beach

This morning news spread quickly about a beached Humpback whale near the pier at White Rock beach. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans confirms the Humpback is in poor shape and had fishing gear on it. Both the RCMP and Vancouver Aquarium staff are on the scene.

There are reports that the whale has died. This has been confirmed by various news outlets.
