Summer is heating up with the arrival of 12 new food trucks that are sure to add some flavour to the streets of Vancouver. One of those trucks is The Guanaco Truck – offering authentic Salvadoran cuisine. Guanaco is a term of endearment used to describe people of Salvadoran descend.  You can’t miss this bright red and green truck. If you do, simply follow the Latin sounds to the corner of Seymour and Georgia!

What’s the name of your food cart?

Guanaco Salvadoran cuisine.

What type of food do you offer and what does your cart offer the food cart community?

We are offering authentic Salvadoran cuisine while showcasing our culture and exposing tourism to El Salvador. We hope that eating at our truck will be an experience in itself, through the music we play, the atmosphere and the customer service.

Where are you typically located?
On the corner of Seymour & West Georgia.
Someone has $15 to spend for lunch. What should they order?
Pupusa Revuelta being that’s the most popular dish ($8.50) with a tropical drink ($3.75) and a chocobanana ($2.00) to finish off the meal.
In the future what type of foods do you hope to offer?
If we do, do any feature dishes (soups during the winter season) it will always be authentic Salvadoran foods.
What’s your top 3 sellers?
Pupusas Revueltas, ( corn patties filled with beans, pork and cheese) pasteles (deep fried savory pastries), and platanos fritos (deep fried plantains).
If your cart played music like the ice cream truck, what song would it be and why?
We currently play cumbia and salsa, because music adds to the experience of eating at our truck. But, if we had to choose one song it would be: “Las Pupusas” version by Ramon Ortega, because the song is about Pupusas!
If you could have any person lined up at your cart, who would it be and why?
Our truck is open to anybody and everybody!
You can find information on The Guanaco Truck, (including location and hours of operation) or any other food truck using the Street Food App, available for free on  Itunes.
