River Rock Richmond Night Market 2012

Richmond Night Market

Did you know that the Richmond Summer Night Market was named one of the top night markets in the world? Well this year that night market will face a stiff competitor, the River Rock Richmond Night Market, as the founder of the original Richmond Night Market has high hopes to bring back an international sensation for the spring and summer of 2012.

The 2012 Richmond Night Market will open on a large 18-acre site at the north end of No. 3 Road at River Road—a property known as Duck Island, just west of the  River Rock Casino Resort.

The market has the potential to be Richmond’s biggest draw, bringing in hundreds of thousands of people from not just the Lower Mainland, but potentially from all over the world as it’s close to the airport and is easily accessible by rapid transit. Unlike the Summer Night Market behind the Home Depot, which is only really accessible by car.

There will be close to 250 merchandise booths, 80 food vendors, a diversity of family-friendly entertainment, and more than a thousand nearby parking stalls. Further, this year’s market will also feature carnival rides and a children’s amusement zone, adding thrills and chills to the nightly experience.

The new location is much more convenient, as it’s closer to the heart of the city, and offers easy access by foot, car, bus or Canada Line train. Sitting beside the new terminus for express buses from Delta and White Rock, the new site promises to draw people from a wider area than ever before, as it’s less than a 20-minute ride to Downtown Vancouver, and a short five-minute hop to the Vancouver International Airport.

Location: 8351 River Road (near the River Rock), Richmond
Dates Open: May 18 to Oct 8, 2012
Dates/Times: Fri and Sat:7:00pm to 12:00am, Sundays and Holidays: 7:00pm to 11:00pm

First time to Rich. Nite Mkt. and am impressed. You need a little work on your website. Numbered vender stalls is very good.  Lota of parkeng good. You neet some covered areas with chairs for short rests throughout the market.  Lots of  room for looking and buying – not crampted.  Clean looking food area and stalls.  You need ample covered tables, seating for perhaps 75 +  for eating. Keep a tight watch on cleanlyness. Get some Caucasian and euoropean foods Prices seem to be more reasonable that elsewhere; Keep prices low.  No one asked for a parking fee; That’s good.  $1.00 to get in is nothing. Put up some “Please don’t smoke!”  Keep adding to the unique features. Do more local TV advertising, Your biggest expense should be  your marketing and advertising. Your advertising cost will pay dividends for years to come.  Keep the new ideas comming  So far this early 7/10 and will be better as season goes on,  I am sure

But parking is FREE, senior 60 and over is free admission too. Summer night market stole the business from Raymond. got sued and lost. no one should patronize such business.

Leave your car at home, its only 200 meter from skytrain station… Don’t tell anyone but we came all the way from Maple Ridge, went to the Casino for a while to enjoy dinner and a bit of gambling fun, no problem parking at the casino parkade, no traffic at all, then walk to the night market. Lot for nice and beautiful people, great food, hot chicks in shorts and high heels, best of all really enjoyed the evening unlike the other place.

The traffic congestion is really bad, they need to fix that.

The video doesn’t even start to show how bad the traffic is.

Does anyone knows the name of the store that sells fruits and vegetables? It’s close by the entrance.

  • Fefrie

I think that the fruit vendor was caught here:

Stole business? So funny! Check the wiki, the first night market in Richmond was not hold by Raymond! The first one is at 1998, in continental shopping center! Actually, Raymond stole the night market business 2 years later! If he ran away and choose not to operate during 2008, that’s mean he quit, as my understanding! How come he said other steal his business when he quit! From the wikki, it states that the one behind Home Depot is the one who started the first night market in Richmond at 1998!

The one who rated top night market in the world is Summer Night Market, it is behind Home Depot! Not the Richmond Night Market! Wrong info!
