Folks that either live in or visit the West End frequently are all to familiar with the laughing statues titled “A-maze-ing Laughter”. They have become iconic and we hope they stay there for a long, long time to come. In order to do so the Vancouver Biennale (the good folks that brought the public art here in the first place) is launching a campaign to keep the statues here.
In order to make this happen the public (that’s you) needs to let the park board know via e-mail that you support keeping the statues at the corner of Davie and Denman at Morton Park.
The Artist Yue Minjun has even dropped his price by $3.5 million and will give them for $1.5 million. Two donors have already lined up to purchase them, it will cost taxpayers nothing. There is one condition for purchase though. The city has to keep them on site by English Bay.
Here is how you can contact the park board and all you have to do is write the following to them:
“I support keeping Amazing Laughter at Morton park” to email@example.com
Subject Line: Biennale Consultation The deadline is Friday, March 16.
