Update: Vancouver Lego Store Grand Opening:

The store is now open (it had its soft opening April 13th).  A soft opening is where the store is open and operational and allows staff to work out any issues and get everything up to speed for the official Grand Opening weekend which is slated for May 4th-6th, 2012.

Vancouver will be getting its first LEGO store, the fourth to open up in Canada. According to the Oakridge Centre website, the store is slated to open sometime in the Spring of 2012. It will be located in the West Galleria, next to Safeway. Fans young and old will be in LEGO heaven as you’ll find anything and everything to do with LEGO  here. No more hunting for your Star Wars LEGO fix.

This is all part of the ongoing shift in retail that is happening at Oakridge. They now have an Apple store, Tiffany’s, and soon be home to the first Crate & Barrel in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

I wonder if they’ll have a LEGO Johnny Canuck at the store.

    #correction “spring of 2011″

Does that mean it’s already opened?

  • Karm

Still have 2011 on my mind. Yes it’s supposed be 2012. Made the change, thanks :)

Awesome!  Not sure whether I’m more excited for this of the new Apple Flagship store… either way, I’ll need to find a new source of income!

  • Juan Carlos

Change “it’s” to “its” in the headline and this is a perfect story. My 6-year-old doesn’t care so much about spelling and grammar… so he’s through the roof.

All they need is a Victoria’s Secret store… and then they will be all complete…

Was wondering why they were hiring. SO GOOD.

We are lacking innovation and creativity compared to other countries. Anything that will get children to flex their imagination muscles will be good for our future. Lego is a very interesting company. It’s been around for such a long time, has an amazing brand, and is very profitable. But unlike its competitors the Lego management team is keeping the company private so their stocks are not publicly traded.

I’m not sure who is more excited about this store, my grandchildren or me?!

  • DJ

Anyone know when this store is actually going to open?

  • Legomatt29

Great!  I hope they will have Lego Club so that I do not need to go to Bellingham every month anymore.

super disappointed by this place – you can’t even pre-order lego sets at the Lego store .. but you can at Toys R Us or any other toy store … laaaaaaaaaaaame.

This is pretty exciting stuff — I’ve got 7 and 9 year old boys. And for the record, the headline is fine the way it is: “its” is the proper form for the possessive, not “it’s” which is just the contraction of “it is”.
