The busy off-season for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC continues with the announcement that midfielder Shea Salinas has been traded to the San Jose Earthquakes in exchange for allocation money.

The 25 year old American born Salinas joined the Whitecaps last year through the MLS expansion draft. The midfielder played in 26 MLS games for the Whitecaps and tallied 1 goal and 4 assists.

As mentioned the Whitecaps have been a busy squad early in this off-season. They ran a mini training camp under new head coach Martin Rennie, they have lost Jeb Brovsky in the expansion draft to the Montreal Impact, they waived Nizar Khalfan & Bilal Ducket. The team is looking (and it’s fans are too) to improve upon the showing they had in their first season in the MLS. Perhaps this allocation money they got in exchange for Salinas will allow them to make a move or two more to improve the team.
