It’s no secret to those in the retail industry that Apple has long been looking for an ideal location to open up a Vancouver flagship store. Since HMV’s demise on Robson on Burrard those rumours have picked up steam. However, that is not where the Apple flagship store will be located, according to Business in Vancouver, the long rumoured Apple flagship will be opening up shop somewhere between Burrard and Thurlow (On the Aldo side of the street). If true, this also debunks the rumoured Robson and Granville location.  Both superior locations in my mind.

Here is an excerpt from Business in Vancouver:

A source close to Apple Inc. (Nasdaq:AAPL) has told Business in Vancouver that the computer company is slated to take space on Robson Street halfway between Burrard and Thurlow streets.

The location would be slightly west of the future Forever 21 location, which is under construction and named Robson Galleria.

If the source is true, this would mean the store would take over the space in Robson Galleria, a one level retail unit. Not sure if this is flagship material.  However, this is Apple, they’ve done their due diligence and selected an appropriate location. Only time will tell how this plays out.

I don’t know about this – Vancouver already has a store at Pacific Centre downtown.  If you look at Toronto the only store they have downtown is the Eaton Centre, and I believe Montreal is the same way.  How many Apple stores can one city support?

If it does go in, it’s fantastic news, I just am not sure I buy that there will be two locations in downtown Vancouver.

Way to make Vancouver more unsustainable. Have the largest single store in Downtown owned by the most unsustainable IT company of all time. GJ Vancouver. GJ.

There won’t be two locations downtown.  They will give up their lease in Pacific Centre

    Typo son!

“rumoured Apple flaghsip”   should be “Apple flagship.” Sorry grammar nazi here.

Yeah, I’d rather they open up a nice big flagship and shut down the smaller PC location

“flagship store” (just “outlet store”) is a just another term that has become to mean nothing whatsoever.

  • surrounded by schmucks

    just *like*…

  • Ryanhmackenzie

Obviously they will have two locations… actually there should be three downtown. Apple stores are the highest grossing sq footage of any retailer ever! I think it sits at 400 per sqr foot.

Also Pacific Centre is in the top 10 busiest Apple stores in North America.

edit: The term “flagship store” (just like “outlet store”) has become to mean nothing whatsoever.

  • Eshotty

flagship store DOES not mean outlet… it means primary and prominent

  • Eshotty

firstly, no one said it was going to be the largest single store. secondly, apple isn’t unsustainable and thirdly, its a tech company not an IT company.

  • Eshotty

montreal’s flagship apple store is two levels and sits on ste. catherines. which is essentially the robson st. of montreal

  • Eshotty

its because the market is under serviced, which is why apple is building a flagship.

    $4000 per dq. ft.!!!!

Are you just uninformed or do you normally just talk out of your ass? Exactly in what way is Apple unsustainable?

You really should know what you’re talking about before you make statements like that.
