On July 9, 2011 the hottest 10 km run/ 5 km walk hits Vancouver. Hundreds of devoted men and women dressed in anything from underwear, flamboyant costumes to regular exercise gear will raise critical funds and awareness for cancers below the waist. This is the sixth annual Underwear Affair event in Vancouver, a bold race where the fun continues after the finish line with the EXPOsed afterparty. From beginning to end, this Affair is an entertaining experience for all ages to expose these “taboo” and under-funded cancers like colorectal, cervical, prostate, testicular and ovarian among others.
In B.C. in 2011, an estimated 48 per cent of diagnosed cancers are “underwear” cancers that are neglected adequate attention. Participants in the BC Cancer Foundation’s Underwear Affair have the opportunity to make a real difference in the fight against cancers below the waist here in British Columbia by raising imperative funds and shedding some light on cancers “down there”.
