Vancouver Outdoor Pool Guide

Summer has arrived and the pools are now open for Vancouverites to take a dip. They are usually open by mid may, however, this year’s recent cold snap has delayed some of the openings. We compiled a list outdoor pools in the city for a variety of age ranges:

1. Kits Pool

Kits Pool is quite frankly the best of the Vancouver outdoor pools.  Next to Kits Beach (which was voted one of the sexiest beaches in North America, if you’ve been down there you would be hard pressed to disagree that statement) it’s also Canada’s longest pool (three times longer than an Olympic pool). Perfect for serious and fun loving swimmers alike. Enjoy the amazing scenery (human and nature) in the best pool the city has to offer.

Address: 2305 Cornwall Avenue

Dates: Open until mid September. Kits Pool Schedule

2. Second Beach Pool

Situated along the park’s southwest Seawall, this pool has beautiful views and is great fun for kids. This is the pool of choice for many West Enders.

Address: Stanley Park Drive, Vancouver

3. Maple Grove Pool

The Maple Grove Pool is primarily a pool for kids rather than swimming adults. It’s a great place to plan a family fun day as there is a park adjacent to the pool.

Location: 6875 Yew Street

4. New Brighton Pool

The New Brighton Pool in East Vancouvver is long. Along with Kits Pool, this is a good choice for serious swimmers.

Location: North Windermere Street, near New Brighton Park, Vancouver

5. Hillcrest Aquatic Centre

Located next to Queen Elizabeth Park lies an outdoor pool with water sprays and bubble jets in addition to its amazing indoor facilities.

Location: 4575 Clancy Loranger Way
