Yesterday I found this screenshot from an investment commercial on the SSP. If you have ever wondered what some of the worlds famous landmark buildings would look like in downtown Vancouver this is it.
The tallest tower in the world has been plunked down in the West End (I’m sure the residents wouldn’t mind) and you also have the Sears Tower, Empire State building, Sydney Opera house and many other famous buildings from around the world. You’ll also notice that Stanley Park is no more.
To all those that oppose architecturally beauty have no fear as Vancouver doesn’t have the financial clout nor the political backbone to allow for any marvels at such heights. Enjoy your stucco clad towers in the West End and blue glass towers everywhere else.
