A notable moment on Twitter?

As someone just tweeted me, I have too many notable moments to mention – some bad (like crazy Twitter attacks), some good (like cool musicians responding to/retweeting you) but in the end, I’ll just have to say this last week has all been notable. After a year of hard work, my first novel is finally coming out and Tweeps have been more than supportive and happy for me. It’s an amazing feeling.

Your best Tweet:

Oh man, what a loaded question. The “Mike Patton licked my tattoo. I win” tweet made the rounds. But recently, it was trying to figure out my bio for my book cover (when I was at the end of my rope): “Author bio: Karina Halle wrote this book. She regrets it.”

What did you want to be growing up?

A horse. Until I realized science wasn’t going to catch up with my ambition. Then it was an FBI agent (because of The X-Files) and a paleontologist (because of Jurassic Park). I later realized I would rather write fiction about these roles instead of actually doing them! Also, I wanted to be a rockstar – I’m halfway there.

If you could have dinner with 1 person (live or dead) who would it be?

I’ve kind of already achieved this, so I’ll say Dave Grohl. How fun would that be?

Your claim to fame:

I’m a music journalist who gets herself into some pretty lucky situations. Other than that, my blog has gotten me on Inside Edition, and it became a subject of a German professor’s paper. Also, I won The Province’s Jessica Simpson look-alike contest in 2004. Bahahaha.

Do you know of a hidden gem in our city?

The very tiny Otis Music on Davie Street. I go there a lot to flip through the racks and pick up CDs. Yeah, I’m totally old-fashioned. It’s just nice to know that there are stores like that still around where you can just buy used CD’s and vinyl and get into a deep conversation about music with the owner.

If you were a superhero, who would you be and why?

Jean Grey. I could read minds and when I got all pissed off people would be like, “Watch out, it’s Dark Phoenix!” instead of “Karina has PMS again.”

If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?

An onion. Because I’m round and I like to make people cry.

@coslive OK, I’m biased but they really are the best website for all things music. And, lots of Vancouver concerts and talent get showcased.
