Vancouver aims to be the greenest city in the world by 2020. But how many of us are taking small steps to helping our city achieve that status?

There are a ton of books and information on going green and eco-friendly, and the information can be overwhelming. So aside from recycling our plastic water bottles and newspapers, what else can we do? This is where Tracy Lydiatt, Vancouver’s own Green Families Guru, steps in.

In 2005, Tracy Lydiatt was a geologist working in the Canadian Arctic on a gold mining project. As she stared into the eyes of a caribou over the tundra, she realized that mine development had a huge environmental impact on the area and people who relied on the natural wealth of the ecosystems. Lydiatt then completed a Masters Degree in the Blekinge Institute of Technology’s Strategic Leadership Towards Sustainability Program in Sweden. She went on to work and teach workshops in Australia, Singapore, USA, and Mexico, and has spoken at TEDx Nedlands in Australia.

Her book, Your Green Family Blueprint, went to #1 on Amazon.com’s Sustainable Living category the day it launched. Rather than focusing on the what to do, the book gives families the ability to filter through all of the information about sustainability, evaluate their choices, and set a Green Family Blueprint that works with their priorities, timelines, and budget. Tracy is now taking her best-selling tips to the masses through a series of workshops and programs.

Going Green 101 is a 3-hour workshop that teaches you everything you need to know about going green without going broke or crazy. Dates are April 27 (Vancouver) and May 19 (North Vancouver). The Going Green Teleseminar Coaching Program is an 8-week live coaching program beginning May 5, and the first Going Green 7 Day Challenge runs from May 9-15. For more information on these programs, visit the links above or www.thegreenfamiliesguru.com.

Your Green Family Blueprint is available on Amazon.com for $21.99 USD or at the upcoming Going Green 101 workshops for $20 CDN.
