This week you have a chance to see, live on stage, one of world’s most famous Flamenco players and the frontman of UK’s longest surviving punk band.

Paco Pena is playing at the Vogue Theatre on Thursday and judging by the reviews and comments from twitter to the New York Times (Paco Peña “is a virtuoso, capable of dazzling an audience beyond the frets of mortal man. -NYT) this is a must see show – a troupe of Flamenco musicians and dancers that are among the best in the world.

British punk and new wave legend Hugh Cornwell, better known as the frontman of The Stranglers, is playing at the Venue on Saturday. You’ll get a chance to hear some of the material from his solo albums but also some of the great hits from the “old days” like “Golden Brown” and “No More Heroes”.

Another very interesting gig this weekend is Civil Twilight, a South African rock band. I heard some of their songs when a friend sent me a link via YouTube and i was immediately impressed. Their song “Human” is reminiscent of early Radiohead. Check out the video below of their Massive Attack cover “Teardrop” or even better, go and see them in person at the Media Club this Saturday.
