So Valentines Day have come and gone. Were you out on a date? Or did you too celebrate Singles Awareness Day (i.e. spent Valentines alone)?

The excitement and romance of Valentines Day can be a way to enhance one’s relationship with a loved and make it stronger. It’s almost mandatory for couples to show their love and appreciation for each other, either through flowers and dinner, or through some other romantic gesture or event. How many of you went on Date Night?

Of course, for those of you who were single on Valenti… I mean, S.A.D. – who needs to celebrate this over commercialized holiday anyway? It’s not even a real holiday, how dare they (“they” meaning society) tell you that you’re supposed to buy a heart shaped box of chocolates to give someone!

There are people in Vancouver who either went through one experience or the other (or both, for all those who went through a Valentines breakup) and perhaps the key thing to remember is: maybe it’s not good to get too lost in the spirit of the event, regardless of which side you were in.

For those of you in relationships, it’s important to keep showing your love and appreciation for your lover. Don’t just do it once a year and keep referring to the big date you took your baby to. “Date night more often!” we say. And ideally initiated and planned by both sides of the relationship, why should men do all the work? Try to keep your relationship romance going on a continual basis and you’ll both be happier in the long run.

And for those of you who didn’t have that special someone to spend Valentines with, don’t fret. This year it wasn’t in the cards for you. But that doesn’t mean that you’re unlovable and won’t find love. It means, if you don’t want to be alone in general, you need to take steps to make yourself relationship ready and to get out there and meet people for potential relationships. If you don’t try, you won’t succeed, we all know that.
